Is Roger worth sticking around through a rain delay?

You better believe it.

When did Roger become the Federer-Express?

He could be Fed-Ex if people got lazy and that just isn't right.

He won today! 6-7(5), 6-1, 6-0, 6-4 against Albert Montañes. Look at that big old bagel! Sweet.

Next up, Ancic. He's 4-1 against him. But that doesn't mean he can rest on his laurels!

Can Roger win the French?

Me: Obvs.

MCENROE ON FEDERER: "Roger can win but his window of opportunity is closing. Having said that he is probably still the second best player on clay right now so of course he has a chance of winning the French."

CARILLO ON FEDERER VS. NADAL: Can Federer win this? Without a doubt. He's been in the last two finals. Only Nadal is a better clay court player. Remember that Federer grew up on this stuff (clay) too and has a genuine feel for this stuff. He's playing the greatest clay courter of his generation, someone who may end up rivaling the great (Bjorn) Borg on this surface. Federer has to play his very best if he were to make it to the final against Nadal. He would have to play with aggression and little fear, and try to knock Nadal off his pins in fewer than five sets. That is perhaps the tallest single order in tennis these days.

Roger Federer Post Match Press Conference Paris

Love the hat, love the water, love it all.

Roger training at Roland Garros with M. Safin 5/25/08

Worth watching? Why not!

Nothing to worry about

Roger crushed Sam 6-4, 6-4, 6-3. I'm not going to take this opportunity to say, "I told you so." I'm sure I'd be preaching to the choir anyway.

Roger was gracious enough to say that he was happy with how it went because the first round of a Slam is always difficult. I wouldn't have believed him when he made a comment like that last year but this year I'll accept it.

The whole draw for the French Open

Here it is. I'm shaking in my bootstraps.

Roger's playing American Sam Querrery to start the French Open

Big whoop. I don't get why this made front page news on MSN. Roger will beat Sam just like he'll beat any other American on clay.

Roger in the May 2008 issue of TENNIS magazine

What the heck does this mean:

"After an unpleasant experience in Athens in 2004, Roger Federer says he may decide not to stay with the other athletes in the Olympic Village in Beijing this August. In Federer's defense, he's can be a total wreck if he sleeps on sheets that aren't pure Egyptian cotton."

Does that strike anyone else as rude? Snarky at a minimum.

Thankfully it gets better. They give him #5 on the list of 5 Best Shots. "5. Roger Federer's Forehand - His racquet-head sped and variety of options make this the biggest weapon today." Everyone else on the list is retired so that works.

He also made the Top 5 Best Dressed list. "5. Roger Federer - No matter what your opinion of his tuxedo shorts [HOT] or Wimbledon jacket [HOTTER], Federer is one male player willing to try something new." The only other man who made the list was Bjorn Borg.

Then they spent pages analyzing his forehand. They call it the Modern Classic. That's right!

Did you know?

That on Roger's Official MySpace Page the only text is:

"It's nice to be important, but it's more important to be nice."

And there's a really great song on it too. Check it out!

Roger Federer - Press Conference Hamburg Final

Not a lot of fun but Roger's always refreshing.

Roger vs. Rafa - took 10 years off my life

Roger led, then he trailed. Lost the first set.

Roger led, then he trailed, then he won the second set in a tie break.

Then he just trailed and lost the third set.

For a second I thought Rafa was going to quit in the first set when he was seriously behind. He saw a trainer about his thigh and then was all put back together. That's okay. We don't want Roger winning by default.

Final score: 5-7, 7-6 (3), 3-6.

Final word: That was some high quality tennis. Amazing!

Hamburg 08: SF Rog v Seppi (Highlights Pt 2)

Hamburg 08: SF Rog v Seppi (Highlights Pt 1)

Look at Roger go!

Roger cruised again! This time past Andreas Seppi, 6-3, 6-2! He hasn't dropped a set in this Hamburg tournament and he's on his way to play either Nadal or Djokovic. Very exciting!

Hamburg 08: QF Rog v Verdasco (Highlights Pt 2)

Hamburg 08: QF Rog v Verdasco (Highlights Pt 1)

Woohoo! Roger wins in Hamburg

Good news: Roger's in the Semis

Bad news: Nadal's in the Semis

Roger beat Verdasco easily 6-3, 6-3.

Roger's playing Italy's Andreas Seppi tomorrow. I'm not going to say anything to jinx him.

Roger's in a tournament right now!

I didn't think he'd be able to play this week too. He's been playing so much lately the guy has to take a break! Then I realized I'd posted that he was going to be playing this week. I'm losing it.

At least he's been winning. He routed the unseeded Swede (say that ten times really fast) Robin Söderling 6-3, 6-2. Took just 64 minutes. That's the Roger we know and love! Although we love him winning or losing.

Next up is Verdasco in the Quarters. Roger says he does have something to worry about. That's just because he's being gracious, right?

Roger does it again =(

He lost to Stepanek today. 7-6 (7-4) 7-6 (9-7).

The whole story.

Thursday, May 8, 2008

Roger does it again!

Roger defeated Ivo Karlovic's tough serve today, 7-6 (4), 6-3.

The whole story.

Rome 08: 2R Rog v Canas (Highlights Pt 2)

Rome 08: 2R Rog v Canas (Highlights Pt 1)

Rafa loses in Rome!

"Nadal, the No. 2-ranked Spaniard, lost on clay for only the second time in 105 matches, falling to his countryman Juan Carlos Ferrero, 7-5, 6-1, in the second round of the Rome Masters." - AP

He had a massive blister on his foot ailing him. You had to know that he couldn't suddenly lose his talent. Rafa seems worried about being competitive in the Masters Series leading up to Roland Garros. He's gotta stay tough! Roger wants him to bring it. That way when he beats him he'll know it's because he's better.

Roger beats Canas in Rome

Yes! Roger beat Canas again 6-3, 6-3 further distancing himself from that catastrophe in Indian Wells last year. It was their first match on clay.

Roger says he's back on track! That means it's time to give Rafa some trouble.

The whole story.
